Wendy Lynne Rinehart is an award winning doll artist. Her dolls have appeared in a number of publications including Art Doll Quarterly, Dolls, Soft Dolls and Animals. Her artwork is often inspired by an emotional response to a found object or idea that is then translated into a moment in time. She explores combinations of metal, polymer clays, cloth, batting, and paperclay to create a character that draws the observer into a fantasy voyage of their own creation. Her work often reflects a very personal sense of humour towards a maturing life and its resulting attitudes. Often whimsical in nature, they evoke an emotional reaction from the viewer through the use of colour, texture and intricate detail. A graphic and fine artist, Wendy worked in the printing industry for 28 years as a transparency retoucher. In her spare time she painted and also discovered the joys of sculpting figures in polymer clay, paperclay and cloth. She has won many awards for her fantasy and portrait dolls, and several nominations for the Dolls’ magazine, Awards of Excellence. Recently she won 2nd. place in the Professional category in Jack Johnson's Prosculpt contest. She has taught privately, at the 2007 CDAA conference, 2006 Creativ Festival, and Michael’s craft store.
